Name of Event/Activity: Food Sorting

Details of Volunteer Activity: Feeding South Florida is always in need of more volunteers at both our warehouse locations! Feeding South Florida distributes over 50 million pounds of food each year (42 million meals) and our volunteers help us inspect, sort and repackage it for distribution to our direct-service programs and approximately 300 non-profit partnering agencies. Our main warehouse is in Pembroke Park (2501 SW 32 Terrace, FL 33023) and our second warehouse is in Boynton Beach (4925 Park Ridge Boulevard, FL 33426).
The great news is that we have ten volunteer shifts available per week, Tuesday-Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. and can accommodate up to 100 people per shift at the main warehouse and up to 40 at our branch location

Feeding South Florida requires all volunteers including chaperones to be registered either individually (16 and older) or as a team member (minors or adults). Registering to volunteer as a team is as easy as visiting https://volunteer.feedingsouthflorida.org and creating an individual account as a Team Captain.
1. Go to Login, found at the top right-hand page.
2. Register as a new volunteer.
3. Create your account.
Once your account is created, you can begin to create your team.
4. Go to “My Account”, select “My Teams”
5. Create A New Team as the Team Captain.
6. List your teammates name and their email and or phone number.
7. Once team is completed, go to the calendar, select shift and then select signup with a team, check off the names of the team members who are participating and submit.
All our volunteer shifts are posted under the “Calendar” tab. This is where you can see availability for each shift as well as register your team once your account has been created.
Things to Remember:
The following guidelines are designed to ensure all volunteers have a great (and safe) experience:
> All members of your team must be registered online. If you have problems with the site, please call and I will assist you.
> All volunteers must wear close-toed shoes due to the warehouse setting. Those not wearing close-toed shoes will not be able to volunteer.
> All volunteers must be at least age 12 to volunteer. Volunteers between the ages of 12 and 18 must have a waiver signed by their parent or legal guardian-attached. Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers age 16 and older can create an individual account and volunteer without an adult.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your shift. If you arrive after orientation, it is difficult to understand the sort process and your role in it.
Name of Event/Activity: Volunteer with The ALS Association Florida Chapter
Details of Volunteer Activity: Do you have a few hours a month to make a huge difference in someone’s life by assisting with cleaning and simply visiting? A special someone living with ALS in Pompano Beach is looking for a volunteer once a week for a few hours, depending on your schedule.
Becoming a Visiting Volunteer with The ALS Association Florida Chapter is a heartwarming experience. We require potential Visiting Volunteers to complete an online training process including two reference checks, a short phone interview, and a background check. Volunteers assist with simple tasks of everyday living and are not allowed to help with medical or personal care, finances, or transportation.
