Name of Event: “Art for the Soul”
Location: First Presbyterian Church / 231 North Federal Highway Lake Worth, FL 33460
Phone: 561-582-7755
Details of Volunteer Activity: Our “Art for the Soul” program provides free music, visual art, and tutoring lessons to underprivileged Elementary-aged students in the area. As we build and expand the program, we need to increase our number of tutors. We already have a few volunteer high-schoolers, and we see the benefit of having “bigger kids” tutor these children. It gives them hope for their futures, while giving teenagers an opportunity to give back to their communities and make a difference. The volunteers will need only to provide their own transportation to the church, and attend a brief training we provide on how best to engage children. We will provide community service hours for this training and for each tutoring session.

Do you have a few hours a month to make a huge difference in someone’s life by assisting with gardening, organizing, and household chores? A lovely lady living with ALS in Palm Springs needs assistance in the home once a week for a couple hours, depending on your schedule. Becoming a Visiting Volunteer with The ALS Association Florida Chapter will bring you purpose and meaning. We require potential Visiting Volunteers to complete an online training process, including two reference checks, a short phone interview, and a background check. Volunteers assist with simple tasks of everyday living and are not allowed to help with medical or personal care, finances, or transportation.
If this unique opportunity interests you, please respond to this posting or contact Becky Ford, bford@alsafl.org, (813) 637-9000 ext. 133, for further information. We hope you consider joining the team!
