Pediatric Associates is a privately-owned primary care pediatric practice with 34 offices; 7 of which are in Palm Beach County. We also have a 501(c) (3): Pediatric Association Foundation. Last summer we started a volunteer program at our locations that would earn students service hours. We would like to extend the opportunity to more students. Attached are flyers with open house recruitment dates. Also below is a map for our Palm Beach County locations. Please also visit our Facebook event page.

Details of Volunteer Activity: A Literacy Kit is comprised of a book and collection of related objects, worksheets, games or other activities designed to make reading interactive and enjoyable for young children. Contents of the Literacy Kit can help bring books to life and deepen the reading experience for the child. Literacy Kits can give teachers, child care workers and volunteer readers ready-to-use tools to support the development of a child’s language and literacy skills, as well as their creative thinking.

Generally Literacy Kits are effective with early readers (Pre-K-3rd grade). When it is time to read to or with a child, the reader will open the Literacy Kit to find an age-appropriate book and an assortment of objects and suggested activities that relate to the book. Kits may be used in one-on-one situations or with small groups of children, and may be used at school, after school programs, libraries, recreation centers and places of worship. Depending on the program, the kit may be sent home so parents can read with children. This allows for additional activities and reinforces learning.

United Way of Palm Beach County will provide all the supplies and materials necessary for the kits.
