10/9/14 Monthly Update

Hello friends and followers of CAN,

We have lots of exciting news to share!

  • The VIP Shopping Spree was a huge success. We collected 25 stuffed bags of clothing and delivered them to Place of Hope. We filled their closet, and the foster kids there will have tons of new clothes to wear.  We recieved a wonderful thank you letter from their executive director, Charles Bender. This was a very rewarding experience and we would love to make this a yearly project.
  • The Palm Beach County Food Project is our second project. This will be a monthly, ongoing project, in which food will be collected every month for local food banks. You can visit our website for more information. This is a perfect opportunity for teens needing volunteer hours; you can sort, box, and load the food items into the vans.
  • CAN is getting ready to launch our third project, which will involve  Kibblez of Love, a pet food bank.  Kibblez of Love is dedicated to assisting struggling families by feeding their pets. Their goal is to keep pets together with their families and out of shelters. This project will start sometime in late October and be managed by Remi Laufer.

Teens, if you have an idea, let us help you kickstart your project and get volunteer hours!

  • We have many new nonprofits that have been added to our volunteer directory. Please check them out and see if you can find something you can help them with!
  • I had the opportunity to attend an event promoting Paws 4 Liberty at Unique Glass Art in Jupiter. The mission of Paws 4 Liberty is to raise, train, and place quality service dogs with disabled soldiers and others in need. I was extremely moved by the stories our veterans told and how these dogs have changed their lives. Keep an eye out for a future CAN project to benefit them.

  • I recently received a letter from Alcee L. Hastings, a member of the House of Representatives in Washington D.C., congratulating me for all of my hard work with Community Angel Network. He represents the district that my high school is located in, and told me that he is very proud that he represents me.

We appreciate your support in continuing to help spread the word about Community Angel Network. There are so many nonprofit organizations in need of help around Palm Beach County.
